AM & PM Equine is what happens when two best friends, Allie Penland and McKenna Miller, realize they’ve been unknowingly building a business partnership for years. The “AM” stands for Allie & McKenna, and the “PM” for Penland & Miller: because when you live, ride, work, and run a business together, you may as well commit to the bit.
The two met as college roommates while riding for the UK Eventing Team. From there, life refused to let them go separate ways: they ended up at the same barns, in the same jobs, at the same boarding farms, and even spent a summer in Wyoming together. After years of joking about not having a “real” life plan, they finally decided to build one.
In February 2025, they leased a farm and started AM & PM Equine. Though they both maintain full-time jobs, the program quickly became their passion project: a place where they could work with a wide variety of horses, blend their different strengths, and run a business built on honesty and trust.
Their mission is simple: produce sound, well-cared-for horses with total transparency, and match them with riders and homes where they will truly thrive. They love bridging the gap between track life and second careers, and they maintain communication with past owners when welcomed. While Thoroughbreds hold a special place in their hearts and continue to be their main focus, they enjoy training horses of all types - each one leaving the farm up-to-date, well-started, and understood.
At its core, AM & PM is two people who balance each other perfectly, share the same work ethic, and believe every horse deserves its best possible future.

Allie Penland

Allie Penland attended the University of Kentucky, where she rode on the UK Eventing Team and developed her mare A Twist of Twyla through Training level before Twyla graduated to her favorite job—carting kids around the jumper ring with unbothered enthusiasm. Allie found her love for starting horses early, but it was during college that she gained invaluable experience breaking young horses and stallions, learning how to balance timing, feel, and bravery on the days the horses had none.

Her experience spans hunter/jumper and dressage programs, stallion handling, full barn management, and enough day-to-day barn chaos to make her unflappable in almost any situation. She currently works on the reproductive side of equine field vet teching, bringing steady hands and sharp instincts to even the trickiest cases.

Her pride and joy is her KWPN mare Safari B, a horse who reflects her riding style: thoughtful, athletic, and always trying her heart out. At AM & PM Equine, Allie blends structure, intuition, and a healthy sense of humor, helping each horse step confidently into its next career while keeping the barn running like a well-oiled (and well-loved) machine.

McKenna Miller

McKenna Miller is a University of Kentucky Digital Media and Design graduate with a lifelong love for Thoroughbreds and the people who shape them. She learned from a wide range of trainers over the years and spent her college career eventing through the Modified level with her longtime partner, Bo Jango—now enjoying a luxurious retirement in the rolling fields of Northern Kentucky.

Her career has taken her through many corners of the equine industry, including training and sales, restarting OTTBs, veterinary tech work in equine reproduction, and marketing and photography for major Thoroughbred operations. These experiences gave her a deep appreciation for patience, clarity, and the small wins that build great horses. They also solidified something she’s always believed: there’s nothing quite like the magic of a good Thoroughbred.

Today, McKenna blends creative media with thoughtful retraining to help horses step confidently into their second careers and help riders find the partners who make them excited to show up to the barn every day.

A Thank You That Built the Foundation

AM & PM Equine wouldn’t exist without the people who believed in us before we ever had a business plan, an arena, or even a real sense of what this dream would become.

We owe a special thank you to Chris and Sean, two incredible supporters who encouraged us before AM & PM was a name on paper. When we approached them with a partnership idea to buy a horse together, they surprised us with something far more meaningful:
“You don’t need a partner. Go build your dream, here’s a gift to get you started.”

Their generosity , both financially and emotionally, helped launch this business and set the standard for the kind of community we want to build. We carry them with us in every horse, every sale, and every milestone.
