Alana’s Light is a thick-bodied, very sweet Thoroughbred mare who offers a lovely combination of a quiet brain and an easygoing temperament. She was started on the racetrack but was simply too slow and never had a recorded workout or race, making her not RRP eligible.

Alana has settled into our program extremely well and has proven to be a kind, straightforward mare to have in the barn. She has been back under saddle for the past few weeks and has been flatting nicely, showing herself to be a willing and uncomplicated ride as she begins her new career.

She is naturally more of a push ride, but is responsive off the leg with a naturally forward step. She is not reactive or hot and has a quiet, sensible way about her that makes her very pleasant to ride. Alana hacks out easily and has handled the transition from the track lifestyle to sport horse life with ease.

Went to a jumper show on 3/29 and jumped around the baby courses. Took everything in stride and acted very professional! Very willing and easy young horse.

On the ground, she is just as easy. She has a sweet personality, good manners, and enjoys being part of the routine. She lives happily outside 24/7 but is equally content in a stall when needed. Alana is currently barefoot with good feet, clean-legged, and not on grain.

Alana is a lovely young mare with a great brain who is taking everything in stride as she learns the next chapter of her career. She would be a nice option for someone looking for a kind, quiet Thoroughbred to develop in any direction.
