Lyric is one of those horses.

By Audible out of Majestica, Lyric was a $67,000 weanling, bred with every expectation of becoming a successful racehorse. While she certainly inherited the looks, racing simply wasn't her calling, making just two starts before retiring sound.

Since arriving, Lyric has been exactly the type of horse we love having around the barn. She settled into our herd immediately, happily lives outside with the other mares, and has become best friends with our RRP mare, despite looking so much alike that we've occasionally had to do a double take.

She's kind, uncomplicated, and genuinely enjoys being part of the daily routine.

Like many Thoroughbreds, Lyric was somewhat foot sore barefoot when she arrived. She is currently wearing glue on shoes while her feet grow out, and we recommend she continue with at least front shoes moving forward. With that support, she's been comfortable and happy to go to work.

Under saddle, Lyric has exceeded our expectations.

She's the kind of restart everyone hopes for but rarely finds. From her very first rides, she accepted the contact naturally and worked in a soft, consistent frame without drama. She's a bit of a push ride, but happy to go forward when asked. She has a quiet, willing attitude that makes every ride enjoyable.

On the ground, she's equally uncomplicated. She's polite to handle, easy to catch, stands well, and is low maintenance in the barn. She lives primarily outside but happily comes into her stall to eat. She's an easy keeper for a Thoroughbred and maintains her weight without requiring endless feed or special management.

Lyric is still early in her second career, giving her future owner the opportunity to bring along a quality young horse exactly the way they want. We think she would be an excellent prospect for a junior or amateur working with a professional, whether their goals are eventing, hunters, dressage, or simply producing a lovely all around sport horse.

If you're looking for a restart that skipped the "fire-breathing dragon" phase and went straight to being a dependable partner, Lyric deserves a spot on your list. She has all the pieces to become a truly special horse for someone willing to continue her education.
