Lyric is one of those horses.
By Audible out of Majestica, Lyric was a $67,000 weanling with all the pedigree and presence you’d expect. While she certainly inherited the looks, racing simply wasn’t her calling, making just two starts before retiring sound.
Since arriving at our farm, Lyric has been exactly the type of horse we love producing. She settled into the herd immediately, happily lives outside with the other mares, and has become the kind of horse you never have to worry about. She’s kind, sensible, and genuinely enjoys having a job.
Like many Thoroughbreds, Lyric arrived somewhat foot sore barefoot after coming off the track. She’s currently in front shoes and we recommend she stay in at least front shoes moving forward. With that support, she’s been comfortable and happy to work.
Over the past several months, Lyric has continued to prove just how straightforward she is. She’s been ridden consistently both at home and away from home, has handled new environments with a quiet attitude, and continues to approach every ride with the same willing mindset. She naturally accepts the contact, works in a soft, consistent frame, and is a comfortable push ride without feeling dull.
We’ve started introducing her to small fences, and she’s been every bit as honest and uncomplicated as she is on the flat. She quietly goes where she’s pointed, isn’t bothered by fill or new questions, and has shown a willing, confident attitude that should make her an exciting prospect to continue bringing along.
On the ground, she’s equally easy. She’s polite to handle, stands quietly for grooming, tacking, the farrier, and loading, is easy to catch, and is low maintenance around the barn. She primarily lives outside but happily comes into her stall to eat, gets along well with other horses, and has maintained excellent weight without requiring excessive feed or special management.
Lyric is still early in her second career, leaving plenty of opportunity for her next owner to continue her education. We think she’d make an outstanding prospect for a junior or amateur working with a trainer, whether your goals are eventing, hunters, dressage, or producing a quality all-around sport horse.
If you’re looking for a restart that skipped the “fire-breathing dragon” phase and went straight to being a dependable partner, Lyric deserves a spot on your list. She’s the same horse every day, enjoys learning, and has all the ingredients to become a truly exceptional partner.
